Probably the only piston 6/4 you'll ever see with a kranz. Love it!

ImageOk,
An update on this horn. The bell was damaged when I left it in a storage area behind the pit for Nutcracker performances. Fixed the bell, left it unlacquered with just Lemon Pledge on it. What's weird is the damage didn't affect the sound or response. This horn sounded great in 7 performances of the Nutcracker at Infiniti center, but it's still too big for the ensembles I'm playing in. Pictured updated see attached. Price now is : $ 6400. Pics will come later once I put them in tiny pic.com

The dent you see in the bow actually makes the horn sound better! I think it has to do with nodal points, but if the buyer wants it out, I'll take care of that. Also open to trades: 4/4 Rudy CC 5 valve, GR51/605 BBb, Alex 5valve CC.

The first valve slide would drop out when the horn was on its bell during an "inopportune time"( quiet section of music) in a dress rehearsal, so I used a black shoe lace and electrical tape (no residual marks) to prevent that happening again. Didn't want to put something permanent on the horn, and it works fine.

I would absolutely love to hear this tuba in action!

With that bell, is the sound more focused than on a normal 6/4 BAT?

It plays alot like my 5/4 Rudy CC I had , but because it's a .773 bore and not .840 (!), so not quite as much air required for the low register is easier, especially for Prokovfiev 5 and the Ride. For more info on how it compares with with Tony's 6/4 Nirschyl, put his name in the Tubenet search. I paid/ traded alot more for it than what he originally sold it for . (I traded a $7000 Rudy CC 4/4, for it excellent condition ).

Every time I see this, I think, "well, maybe I *could* re-learn BBb..."

But would have to judge with my ears, not my eyes! Sneak a recording at your next gig?

Bump with price $6400 or trade for 5 valve Rudy 4/4 CC, 5 valve 163 Alex CC, or B&S GR51 BBb.
