Consider using other instruments. I have this book, it's pretty good.

If you are comfortable reading music down an octave, you can access the much larger play-along repertoire for trombone.

I first played along with "The Royal Netherlands Marine Band Plays John Philip Sousa's Marches" sans music, heard it and figured it out In fact, I learned to play by playing along with whatever was on TV, The Flinstones, The Addams Family, all Warner Bros. cartoons etc. Also the oldies station on the radio. I think I learned to get in tune as well as developed an ear in the process. Music is an oral thing, although a lot of work is reading oriented, a great ear will take you far.FWIW, Ed

Pat Sheridan has a book and CD on his website called "Musical Souvenirs". I don't remember the composer's name but it's good stuff. Just challenging enough, and still fun to play along with after more than a couple of years.

Audio, sheet music, the works.

I have to slow down the tempo to keep up though...

(amplitube software on smart phone will slow tempo without effecting pitch)

Without it, I'd pass out!!

Here are an assortment - everything from solos to tuba parts from brass quintet. We get some nice feedback on the pacific coast horns CD.

Strongly recommend just putting on some favorite tunes and hacking them out by ear, too. I learned a lot about melody and basslines from singer-songwriter music, and I attribute my double/triple-tonguing almost entirely to System of a Down!
