That is the same tuba as the Wessex XL https://wessex-tubas.com/products/bbb-r ... a-xl-tb576" target="_blank" target="_blank
If you search google for the Wessex you can find some information. Like how the upright bells can be used for Martin tubas.

Wessex has offered that tuba as a part of its catalog but is pulling it I believe, or maybe just not stocking it anymore. Probably not the best choice of horns. The word "novelty" comes to mind.

I could read a Laabs Schiller catalog all day!!
Open Wrap design keeps air flowing smoothly all the way down to the subsonic registers.

Have been strongly contemplating that horn myself, but am holding out in hopes of scoring a King with both bells around the same price point.

Does Laabs have an actual showroom of Schiller instruments? Based on their exclusive use of stock photos and their weeks-long order fulfillment period I assumed these were being drop-shipped from China.

The Wisconsin showroom is actually pretty awesome.funkcicle wrote:Does Laabs have an actual showroom of Schiller instruments? Based on their exclusive use of stock photos and their weeks-long order fulfillment period I assumed these were being drop-shipped from China.

I have purchased several Schiller instruments from Laabs and have been happy with each. Maybe I was lucky, but I experienced no delays in shipment. Received the instruments in less than a week. I also enjoyed dealing with their sales staff---------courteous and responsive.funkcicle wrote:Does Laabs have an actual showroom of Schiller instruments? Re: schiller-american-heritage-symphonic-tuba-with-upright-f
I am currently playing a Schiller American Heritage CC 5 Valve. Here is a link to my photos.
I am very pleased with the intonation of this horn, and have no complaints. Previously I have owned and played Miraphone 186 CC 5 valve, and Cerveny Piggy CC 4 valve. This Schiller can't be beat!
I am also very pleased with Troy Laabs responsiveness to my request to reconfigure the 5th valve from flat wholetone to Major 3rd. He is communicating between me and the manufacturer in the effort to create an alternate tuning slide for my horn to extend the 5th valve tube. I'll let you know how this process goes, and the final outcome.
