Any guitar players out there?

Ok i know this is a tuba/euphonium/low brass forum, but i'm hoping someone can help me out.

my friend's dad gave me an Ovation guitar. I did a little research on it and the serial number is 069010, which tells me it was made in 1976! I was surprised to find that. Anyway, i need some money, so i've decided to put in on ebay, or on a guitar forum for sale somewhere. It has a few problems, nothing major. The tuning knobs need to be replaced, it goes out of tune a little after sitting on the stand for a while. The fretboard needs to be adjusted so the action is right. And it just needs to be cleaned up and polished a little. Ok, my question is: how much do you think i should sell this instrument for? any input is greatly appreciated.

I would start it out at $200 and see what happens. I'm not a big fan of Ovation, but there may be somebody who is willing to pay a pretty penny for it.

The best thing you can do when selling on ebay is to be as honest and comlete as possible in the description, and have great pictures.

That is probably the best advice you will receive. I've had great success selling on eBay following this simple credo.
Oh, and if it needs polishing, take a few minutes with a soft, lint-free cloth and some lemon-fresh Pledge and polish it up. The time spent (15 minutes?) will likely double the price it goes for. $200 is a fair price for a clean shiny guitar.

1. Check ebay to see what your particular model is going for, and in what condition. This is an excellent guide.

2. Full, complete, 100% accurate description, as stated before.

3. Based on your description, I would not be willing to pay $200 for a 25 year old Ovation in worn-out condition. That price seems high. New tuners don't cost a ton, but a 25-year old guitar that has several different pieces of evidence that it's been well-used is probably not going to fetch $200. But, hey, it's ebay. Who knows?

4. Oh, did the new Pope ever play it? That really helped boost the price of his old Volkswagen in Deutschland . . . .
