Conn 5Xj MAW Valves

Hey Tubenet,

Curios if anyone has gotten set of MAW valves for their 5Xj and what their thoughts are.

I know mileage may vary, but it can't hurt to ask around.

Martin put a set in my 52j late last summer with lightweight stems, buttons, and upgraded springs the horn plays 1000x better. It's more responsive and the notes are more focused.

Did he modify your valves or did you buy new valves?

Plug and play. He had to lap them to the casings, but no mods were required.

I forgot to mention when I picked up the horn, I had some mods made to the 5th valve and main tuning slide tuning assemblies, Martin swapped his valves out and put the originals back in so I could compare the difference. Needless to say I the MAW valves went back into the horn before I left the shop.
