Conn 2J, Rare 1958 Silver-SOLD!
For sale; Silver 1958 Conn 2J. Acquired this years ago and now selling because I am old (tired and re-tired) and not playing much anymore. It is in rare silver-plate. The plating is the original and as one can see in the photos, is 99.999% intact. The horn since I have owned it, and to the best of my knowledge has never undergone restoration/re-plating. The general production run in 1958 of the 2J was in lacquer with a silver wash inner bell. From what I have been told, the all silver plate was not an option. Correct me if I am wrong, but I have only seen one other in silver. Again, correct me if wrong, in 1958 Conn produced an updated version of the 2J with changes that were recommended by Mr. Phillips and presented him with a silver plated horn. It is said that they made a few other examples of the same horn at that time. Not sure if this is one of them. The information and accounts were told to me years ago by a knowledgeable source and through the years I have tried to verify this to no avail. Maybe someone has more info. At any rate, It is a wonderful playing instrument and is in incredible shape for its age. Does have bruises here and there as seen in the photos, but nothing major with no major repair work having been done since I have owned it. Comes with what I believe to be the original case (has that musky smell) and a little used Deluxe Gard soft case. I am located in the Tampa Bay-Orlando Florida area. $3500 Please, only serious inquiries. PM for more photos
