UNITEC hard case $250 (added dimensions); near Albany, NY

Post by LARSONTUBA »

Hi all-

I have one of these: https://www.musicarts.com/Unitec-Tuba-a ... 631562.mac that I need to sell. One of the corner bumpers came off during a trip to Italy. I've replaced it with a metal corner and the instrument has been safe on all subsequent trips. List prince is $1000; they are selling on Music and Arts for $600. I'm asking $250.

I use this for my Willson 3200 piston F tuba, but it could fit a variety of instruments. This same case fit a Kalison BBb back in my HS days. The nice thing about this case is that I pack my instrument in the gig bag, usually along with some clothing and a pillow. Once I arrive at my lodging accommodations, I leave the hard-case in the room and can travel much more easily with the gig bag. I've taken this case on four trips total; one domestic trip as well as to Finland, Italy, and Austria.

Internal dimensions:
narrow end: 17" wide x 8 1/2 " tall
wide end: 19" wide x 19" tall
Overall: 41” long

The case is located near Albany, NY. Not really interested in shipping, but I'll entertain well thought out offers.

What is the internal length of the case? Do you know if this will hold a 186 CC? I'm thinking the 19 inch width might be an issue but if it is at an angle it might be close. I'm in Rochester and would like to have a case like this but before I make the drive to Albany I would need to be sure that the Tuba will fit. If you have access to a 186 CC that you could try in this case that would be helpful.

I don't have a 186 lying around, unfortunately.

I didn't measure the length of the case, an oversight on my part. I'll do that and add to the post this evening.
