Dvorak 9th symphony.
Not only do you only play the second movement, but your 14 notes double the bass trombone.

This is only a half answer, because I can't remember the piece (maybe someone else can remember it for me?)

My college orchestra performed an organ concerto, and the tuba part was a grand 5 notes at the end of the third movement. Sol-fa-mi-re-do, if I remember correctly. The composer may have been generous enough to let me repeat do a few times. I wish I could remember it in more detail, but it was years ago.

And, to make matters worse, the performance was in a church, and I was sitting under a 7 foot ceiling because the orchestra didn't fit the space well.

Grieg "Peer Gynt Suite"

Tuba doesn't play until the end of the last movement. At least the music before hand is enjoyable to hear. But, I have played it at least 40 times in the past two years since it is on our kiddie concert play list and it gets old quick.

Tell me about it! I've played that piece several times over the years and it sucks for the tuba player. Those lousy 14 chord-notes with the trombones and bassoons. That's it. :x Yet the rest of the brass have pretty great parts :!:

Question: Are we talking about "bad for the tuba player" or "bad piece of music"? Because those can be very different things.

Tuba player is what I'm seeing. It can be both though!
I would put a good signature here, but i dont have one, so this will make do.

Compared to the great trombone parts, the tuba part in Dvorak 8 is pretty pathetic.

Add to this his Rückert-Lieder (I'm playing it tonight)....although the few notes the tuba plays are basically a soli with the double-bassoon.
