(SOLD) B&S Symphonie F-Tuba with Miraphone 185 Bell
I am Selling my B&S Symphonie F-tuba. This particular horn has a bit of a back story on how it got its bell. The first owner was Eric Messerschmidt. He had a miraphone 185 bell installed in the mid 1980's by master repairman Dan Rausch. The idea came from Tommy Johnson who had this done to his own horn first. Both Eric Messerschmidt and Norm Pearson liked the way Tommy's tuba played, so they had it done to their Symphonies.
Since then, this tuba has belonged to two other owners, John Van Houten, and one of his previous students Justin Jerome. I am the fourth owner and really enjoyed having this unique tuba.
The tuba is Silver plated, with two-step 5th valve and comes with a black cordura Cronkhite case.
I am located in Long Beach, California and am asking for $6,000.
UPDATE TUBA HAS BEEN SOLD

Bump for a really great f tuba. With the Mirafone 185 bell the tuba really lights up and it projects like crazy!
I would buy it myself but I've got way too many tubas.

The 5th valve lowers the pitch by two whole steps instead of by one whole step (much more commonly seen today).ggggabe808 wrote:What do you mean by two-step 5th valve?
