Having imported 100’s of items to Canada from the USA, USPS priority or USPS anything is the best to avoid brokerage fees. Purolator is time 2nd best followed by FedEx. Absolutely the worst is UPS as they charge rediculous custom clearing fees - on top of all the shipping fees that have been prepaid. I have paid as high as $40 CDN to clear a 20 dollar item. So hopefully whatever method works best for you will also work for us. Basically don’t use UPS.

Based on what I 've read and noticed from using other companies I deduce that :

$10.00 goes to Customs for the "admin" they provide
$3.00 goes to the province for the sales tax
The rest goes to UPS
