1935 Martin Mammoth

Post by AaronC1901 »

This is a Martin three valver in outstanding physical condition. The lacquer is severely warn (better off stripped probably), but the instrument has very few dents in its giant body. I include a picture of the valves to show that they are completely free of wear. The horn plays with a massive, clear sound with no leaks whatsoever, outstanding for a 1935 instrument!

There are a few dings on the 24" bell that you may can see in the pictures (more can be posted on request). As can be seen in the pictures, this horn comes with both adjustable bits (one of which Bloke sold me).

A note on Martins.. they don't come with the usual tuning issues of large tubas. Concert F can be played open, and the instrument as a whole plays very well in tune. Honestly makes me wonder why modern sousaphone designers don't copy this bugle and make better-in-tune sousaphones *hint hint*

located in the DFW area, willing to drive a ways because shipping is a pain, willing to let someone test it if they're willing to get close enough for it to be convenient, all the usual stuff. Selling for the same reason I'm selling my 36J. I need the money more than I need to be playing tubas in college, unfortunately.

$3,200, OBO. Shoot me an offer

PICTURES and VIDEO! Blame the mistakes on me. Some of it sounds kind of almost good if you have headphones on though.

Someone needs to buy this so I can stop drooling.

It's that word "handcraft"...

$2,500 now. Shoot me an offer. Or just shoot me. As grand as it plays, I need it out of my living room and I need money for a bass tuba.

Price drop to $2,200. This is the best Martin Mammoth I've played (although they're all good), it has both bits, and it is in virtually PERFECT functioning condition. It just looks ugly (best if the remaining lacquer were stripped).
