I know there are a lot of Texas folks on TubeNet so I wanted to share recordings that I made of this years All-State Etudes. Since I picked them this year I figured I would make recordings as well.
Thanks for listening and I hope they prove to be a valuable resource.

You sounded great at TBA, Scott. You had a lot of good insight regarding the stylistic approach to the etudes also. Thanks, Scott !!

Things like #11, I refer to as "tuba, for the sake of tuba." I'm not a fan, but you've got to do it!
PS -- I don't think I'd make it to the Texas all-state band!

I did too; but it was so long ago I don't remember what I played or if they had even invented printed music yet.Doc wrote:I did, but (praise God) #11 was NOT on the list.bort wrote:I don't think I'd make it to the Texas all-state band!

Heh: my Texas all-state days predate this list by a ways, and I remember auditioning on this year's etudes about 40-odd years ago. I know band directors don't like to buy etude books, but really . . .Mark Finley wrote:If you're interested, This might help
