brassbanned.com broadcasting three contests this weekend

Post by GC »

Brassbanned.com is broadcasting three band contests from Australia and New Zealand this weekend. The countdown timers have changed a couple of times today, so I'm not sure of their accuracy.

The New Zealand Concert Band Association and Victorian State contests seem to start about 6pm EDT Friday on the US East coast. The full schedule is up on the NZCBA link https://brassbanned.com/watch-now-nzcba ... ellington/. There's a 16-hour time difference between the east coast of the US and NZ time in Wellington.

Victorian State is at https://brassbanned.com/2018/08/17/watc ... pionships/

The link to the South Australian state band contest shows it starting a day later. https://brassbanned.com/watch-now-south ... pionships/.

The pages seem to be undergoing edits, so it may be worthwhile to check back occasionally to see if times have changed.

NZCBA concert bands have been going a bit over an hour and a half. Victorian State starts about 7pm EDT on the US east cost in about 15 minutes. The Australian contests are a mix of concert and brass bands.

Starting again today at about 6pm EDT, east coast of the US. Some amazingly good performances, a few amazingly bad. Keeps your interest.

New Zealand contest is finished, and it doesn't look as if they'll broadcast the awards. I guess they'll be up on the contest site later. Victorian State is currently running class B with C coming about noon local time. South Australia starts in a little more than a half hour.
