When did Google Ads take over this forum?
It seems as though there is an ad of some kind between every post in all areas of this forum. Is it just with me or does this appear for everyone else? I have to say this is the most annoying and distracting thing I have seen so far. Can this be disabled?

Re: When did advertisers start appearing here
I've noticed the ads as well, hopefully the ad revenue is going to defer the costs of hosting the board. I can put up with seeing ads if it's helping to pay for us being here.

It's one thing to have a few ads on the side but having them after every post is BS.

I use an Adblocker also. The board gets some money from the ads. I don't think it is a lot but it's something.

I've already clicked on about 10 of them by mistake... they load slower than the surrounding content, and I think I've already scrolled past it, and another ad appears and I click it unintentionally.
I think the ads stink, and I'd pay a few bucks to make them go away.

Hm. I'm using Firefox for Mac, have Adblock Plus installed but disable it to let ads through here, but the only ads I see are the ones at the top. It's been this way for a long time.
Edit: I just disabled Firefox's tracking protection and the ads showed up. It looks like enabling the DO NOT TRACK settings keeps most of them out.

Re: When did Google Ads take over this forum?
I've just checked a couple of other web sites that complain about having ad blockers installed (even if the page you're on is whitelisted or block-disabled). I tried disabling the DO NOT TRACK protection on them with the same results as above. I think site managers are sometimes complaining about the wrong thing.
After experimentation, it seems that either tracking protection or active adblock+ will disable some or all of the ads. I will keep adblock+ disabled here so some ads get through. I will NOT disable tracking protection because I will not assist targeted ads that track my activities or preferences.

I normally use Android Chrome for most things, including this forum, and Ghostery for sites I know will be ad heavy. Ghostery finally got an update recently but is still not quite as user friendly as Chrome. I just downloaded Brave; so far it's impressive.

Re: When did Google Ads take over this forum?
Been awhile since I browsed the forum I don't use an ad blocker when browsing the forum as I felt it was an easy way to support the forum.
The new placement position is not good and some of the ads blend to well with people's posts.
Any chance of the old side ads returning?
