Re: WTB Martin Bell ScrewTruly a lovely bell screw. Thanks for posting.
Checked my box of bell screws and (unfortunately) do not have one, or it would be yours for free. What is the thread diam x pitch and would you accept a substitute? Paul.
Re: WTB Martin Bell Screw
I haven't measured the threads yet as I'm still hoping to find a matching Martin screw. If I come a cropper on that, I'll check the threading to see if I can find a substitute. Thanks for the offer! hal.
Re: WTB Martin Bell ScrewBell screws are fairly easy to make on a lathe. However, that wide, crowned, lovely knurling would be tough to replicate.
Best luck finding an original screw. If no luck, let me know and I will do my best to help.
Re: WTB Martin Bell ScrewI should have a full set of King screws and sockets which might do the job.
If you can post a couple clear pics with a ruler I could see if they would be the right size and get them to you pretty cheap. Free to tuba: good home
Re: WTB Martin Bell ScrewI'd still like to get a matching Martin screw, but I'm starting to think that may be difficult. A substitution would probably be a good idea in the short term as I'd like to have three screws holding the bell. I’ll see if I can get a thread measurement this weekend.
hal.
Re: WTB Martin Bell ScrewI have a bell stack that I cannibalized but I don't think it had any original screws on it. I'll have a look, but I don't think so.
Some old Yorks, Martins and maybe a rotary King...
Re: WTB Martin Bell Screw
Nope, sorry. Some old Yorks, Martins and maybe a rotary King...
Re: WTB Martin Bell Screw
I appreciate you looking. hal.
Re: WTB Martin Bell ScrewSo, here are the measurements I get:
Length of shaft: 9/16" Threads: 1/4" x 20 (verified this) I'd really like to get a matching Martin screw, but I'll consider other options. Thanks for all of the replies. hal.
