Post by bydloman »

Mark these dates down on your calendar: December 2 & 3, 2018. These are the audition dates for the Principal Tuba position of the Utah Symphony. The Utah Symphony is a full-time, 52 week season orchestra, with a competitive salary, excellent benefits and a killer brass section. Employment begins September 1, 2019.

2 days. They screened resumes so the prelims were doable in a single day. Semis and finals were the next morning, done by 3:30 or so. It was one of the best/smooth auditions I’ve taken.

Just means the right person hasnt shown up, its not all that uncommon for them to have a long term sub in lieu of finding the appropriate candidate for the position. I just think they are trying to be very careful with who they ultimately offer the position to.

Gary Ofenloch is a very fine player, and held the position for quite a long time, so these are some pretty big shoes to fill. I don't blame them for being careful.

You extend your career exponentially, because these things are heavy,”

Please tell me this is a joke, or have the standards changed that significantly? Frustrating that these orchestras waste peoples time. (I havent taken the auditions.)
