Places to stay in D.C

Post by Ian1 »

HI,

Any recommendations on affordable accommodation in Washington D.C for 5 nights in January? I’ve been before on tour for a month but we were put in swish apartments.

Many thanks,

The Trump International is about $400 per night or you can splurge and get a suite for $18,000 per night. I guess affordable is relative.

I'll be returning for the third time to the Red Lion Iwo Jima.
But be aware that it's on the other side of the highway from where you GPS directs you.

No one actually pays that, except for the House of Saud!! :tuba:

Do not expect anything other than a clean room with a decent bed and free parking at Red Lion Iwo Jima, but what else do you need? :D
We stay there each year for TUSAB conference at the end of January and the convenience and inexpensive rate is enough to keep me coming back.
And--pay attention to that GPS warning Art gave you!

+1 for the Red Lion. I stayed there last year and I'm already booked there this year for the tuba /euph. workshop. Only downside to the place for me is that the parking is limited.

-------------------but, unlike so many other hotels, that limited parking is free!

I’m flying over so no need for the parking but good to hear it’s a decent place for tuba players to stay :-)

That can be interpreted in more than one way. Could mean the doorways are large and ample size luggage carts are available. Could also mean that they have a "Cheap Beer and Free Sausage Night" in the hotel bar on Fridays.

Good luck and have fun!
