Over the last few years, I've made the decision - on rainy/icy days to wear all-black (no white line around the sole) sneakers with the black suit or tails. The damage-free condition of the $XX,XXX tuba(s) is more important to me (avoiding a slip-and-fall situation) than "correct shoes". IF I'm on the front-edge of the stage/platform (as with a church where I play in early Dec. and Palm Sunday each year), I might - in such an instance - stick the dress shoes in the aux. sheet music bag on the side of the Cronkhite bag.
