eBay: $50 tuba - this morning

Post by greenbean »

A 4-valve European tuba of some sort was listed on eBay this morning. They said shipping (from Ukraine) would be an "additional charge." Gone now. Did someone here get it?...

It's back, now at $700. I saw it yesterday and thought about buying it, but figured it was just a listing mistake.

Not to mention the enormous patch on the bottom bow.

However it _does_ appear to be nickel silver, that helps doesn't it?

I've had good luck with this seller. I bought a BBb helicon from him for $300 plus $150 shipping, and two BBb three valve tubas for $200 plus $120 shipping.

Well, I took the plunge on it. We'll see what it's like when it gets here. I was thinking more in historical perspective. Flak Regiment 13 formed 1935 and was stationed in the east during the war. Makes you wonder if it was left behind during the retreat back to Germany. If it could only talk. Anyway, thought having a Luftwaffe tuba would be interesting.

Will you be removing the patches and brazing things back together? Looking forward to seeing the end product.

plays pretty well. Wouldn't want it as my primary horn but sounds pretty good for its age.
