Tuba solo/feature with Brass Quintet?

Post by WillDellinger »

Does anyone know of any good tuba solos with brass Quintet. We are putting together a show that features each instrument on a tune.

Or even a good idea that doesn't exist, but could be farmed out for arrangement.

The Canadian Brass's "Tuba Tiger Rag" may be a bit of a cliche, but for good reason!

This Alec Wilder piece is a classic of it’s kind and features solos for each within the ensemble

Brass Quintet No 1 (aka Suite for Brass Quintet)
Trumpet Prelude; Elegy for Horn; Tuba Showpiece; Lyric Piece for Trombone; Toccata; Finale. Duration: 11:00 minutes.

Whatever crowd shows up to a USAF Brass Quintet concert in the midwest...

The concept is to start working in elements of Blast! - so HOPEFULLY a young adult/adult crowd...but probably an adult/not-so-young adult crowd.

There is an arrangement by Stephen Roberts of Teddy Bear’s Picnic that is a tuba solo in quintet. It is a great arrangement but is quite though and best played on an Eb or F.
