Give me advice on how to make things better

… and All of a Sudden…

Postby the elephant » Sun Apr 28, 2019 1:22 pm

I am being logged out by the site every time I leave for more than a few minutes. And logging in has a fun, new twist. When I click on my tab to fill in the user name and password fields it registers a click on the log in button, so I click the Auto-Fill tab and I am immediately logged in. Nice, but that is not how it is supposed to work. I have not changed anything in my system in the past week or so, and this started happening yesterday.

The Auto-Fill thing does not bother me, but it seems that being logged out by the site repeatedly and this Auto-Fill bug must be related in some manner. (Just offering clues, not solutions.)

Any ideas?

Sorry for complaining.

Mojave 10.14.4
Safari 12.1

Shouldn't matter, though, as zero on this computer has changed in more than a week. (Actually, on *this* computer nothing has been altered in several weeks, TBH.)

I come here about ten times a day to check on stuff. This started last evening. If I click away for more than a few minutes I have to log in again.

I'm on Windows 10 with the latest version of Chrome and everything still works as expected. So, either the site is having a problem with your specific account, Safari, or something on your end changed without you knowing it. Do you have automatic updates for Safari?

You might try, after logging into the site again to deliberately log out. Dump any cookies on your system related to the site and then log back in.

Safari 12.2 and no problems...

No to the auto updates. I keep up with this particular computer very well. No changes on my end. Whatever. I can log in over and over. I am just reporting the behavior to the management.

Well, it started logging me out again yesterday. I don't know whether you can see our log in/out history, but I keep having to log in even though I never log out and I have Keep Me Logged In selected. I also have Hide My Online Status (or whatever it is called) selected but have been visible on the Index page ever since the Great TubeNet Crash.

This is an individual pc issue, not the message board as nothing has changed here either.

It started for no reason, with zero changes to my system software or hardware. Then it stopped shortly after I posted this. Then it started again. Now it has stopped. Nothing on my computer has changed. At all. Do you use a cookie or some other login token? Because those things can cause this sort of problem all the time. Just trying to help.

Thanks.

I’m not sure what to tell you. Check your browser settings. It could be the wonky indexing thing. Set your browser to open only on the forums.chisham.com page (not a certain sub forum). Your browser might not recognize the page that has your login cookies stored. This website doesn’t store cookies. Your browser stores cookies.

Edit: I did some poking around it’s likely your ISP.
