This looks similar to the King Symphony model, which also has string linkage valves. Do you know how similar these are?

That's great Ian. I was hoping it would go to someone who appreciated it, and could give it the repair work it needed. Besides being kind of flattened, I hope the rest of the issues are easy(ish) to resolve. At any rate, there are not many of these around, so it's great to see it will be restored and used!

Congratulations on your new acquisition!

I'm not a big fan of rotary valves, yet I've always lusted after one of those...... :tuba:

There's just something cool about those loooong paddles.

No no. Not the pit tuba. King made a 6/4 BBb tuba with string linkage rotors and a detachable upright bell. I believe it was the symphony model.

That explains why it looks so familiar! I've gotten to play a King Symphony Model with an upright bell, and had the distinct pleasure of playing duets alongside it with my Conn Grand Orchestral. There's something special about two BBb American BATs playing duets haha.

I found it interesting that a German maker was stenciling an instrument made in the USA....
