Dunno about Martin necks. But I checked with a Yamaha and Signet neck -- they are not plug-n-play with the 20k/vintage 14k neck receivers. The Signet neck is too small; it wiggles a bit in the Conn receiver. The Yamaha neck fits tighter, almost perfectly, but sticks out too far as the Yamaha neck male end is quite long. You might (?) be able to use a Yamaha neck if you cut just over an inch off the male end and tighten the thumbscrew well on the Conn receiver.Kirley wrote:
I am interested in trying out some Signet/Yamaha/Martin style neck and bits. Does anyone know if any of them are plug and play with a Conn sousaphone neckeck receiver?
A good brass tech would be able to cut the end off good and flush, and file/sand it to take the burrs off, as well as carefully using some type of bore expander ever so slightly to make the Yammy neck a nice and tight fit in the Conn receiver
