Welding rods attached inside bell
About 20 years ago I saw a rotary Eb tuba listed on ebay. Welding rods had been soldered vertically to the inside of the bell. Has anyone seen or done something similar?

Jay Bertolet had a big old Cerveny 601 CC that had some sort of metal strips soldered inside the bell. He's a top-level pro and used it on the job quite a lot.
