Meinl Weston Fafner

Post by jimgray »

For sale is my wonderful rotary Fafner, MW's 5/4 BBb with 4 valves, an immense sound and surprising efficiency.
This instrument is a complete joy to play, especially if you love the rich Germanic tone tradition as much as I have.

Full details here: https://www.melton-meinl-weston.com/en/ ... bas/195-2/" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

Included with this instrument is a MW Aluminum case and a Cronkite bag.
All are in excellent condition and located in my home just south of Boston.

$7,500 and worth every single penny.

Please PM me with any questions.

Hope you can make it down!

I'll extend you the same comforts I will to all testers:
1) beer
2) pizza
3) zero pressure
4) lots of time with a tuba that will make you completely rethink CC and piston centricity
5) a fun comparator (my remarkable 1965 4v 186 CC, which is currently on hold for a dear friend)

:-)

I had the opportunity to play a Meinl Weston Fafner (Rotary) at two of my previous assignments/units. These are great tubas!!

Hi all-

I've dropped the price on the Fafner by $1,000.
It is now listed at $7,500, (including bag and flight case); very strong value at that price.
I've played several of these, and this one is an exemplary copy.

thanks for looking-

My wife says we have something called a “mortgage”, so I can’t buy this.

All kidding aside, this is a killer deal.

I don’t know the horn or the seller, in full disclosure.

Bump for Jim.

He's a top notch guy.

Also bump for the Fafner. I play one everyday and work and have no interest in going back to CC. Hell of a tuba.

I think you just said it all... :-)

I bought this horn because I wanted to live the Germanic tone experience.
I wanted to sound like Walter Hilgers.
Or a really huge version of Sam Pilafian.
Basically, the bottom end on the classic Empire Brass Gabrielli CD.

Quite a bit comes for “free” w this horn.

Quick monday bump for the Fafner.

I've had many earnest inquiries, but nothing firm just yet.
This horn remains up for grabs.

As an FYI: $7,500 is my rock bottom price and I am not interested in trades of any sort.
Full disclosure: I am only selling this instrument because I have retired as a tuba player, not owning to any inadequacies in this instrument whatsoever.
