Mouthpiece suggestion sought: PT-64 style; sharp inner rim

After a season of performance on a late-production PT-64, I've concluded that it's a great sonic match for my JinBao-made 520 tuba. It comes up short for me in just one area: the inner rim doesn't have quite enough bite, and as a result, I am not getting dependable attacks, especially at mezzo-piano and softer dynamics.

Can anyone recommend a 'piece with similar dimensions, but with a sharper inner rim?

The 64 has a 32mm diameter cup that is shallow and bowl-shaped, along with a 7.8mm throat.

...and, it should be a Euro-shank model. The Bach/Bach-copy taper is too small for my 520.

Mr. P 6.4, maybe. I don't know if they do Euro shanks, though. Potenza music sells them.

Similar with a sharper rim, a used Sidey MBII is what you want. It is a great mouthpiece very similar to the PT64, MiraphoneC4-type of mouthpieces but, sadly, It only came with a standard american shank.

When Bob began the RT line for US distribution, the 64 got a makeover that included a larger throat, flatter rim, and a sharper bite. After that version started making its way around the playing world, some long-time PT-64 users commented that the bite was too sharp and the rim too flat. (I prefer the flatter, sharper version as compared to the original.) So, on the next run, Bob retreated just a bit from the first RT version as to cater to as many as possible. That version is the current model although, some RT dealers may have a mix of the two. I might have one left but most of my current stock is the most recent revision. A side by side finger test of the bite (of the RTs) will tell you which you have in your hand.

My 64 came in a Robert Tucci box, but is stamped PERANTUCCI PT-64 on the cup next to the rim. My older PTs (62, 31) have PERANTUCCI inscribed next to the rim, and the model number down next to the throat. I've contacted Bob about this and he says it should be the same as the current RT-64.

If you happen to have a sharp-rimmed RT-64, I would be eager to purchase it.
