This week marks the birthday of the great jazz trombonist Willard Palmer (Bill) Harris; October 28, 1916 - August 21, 1973. He performed and recorded with Ben Webster, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, Benny Carter, Jazz at the Philharmonic and many others. With more velocity and high-speed technique than any predecessor, he was the forerunner of contemporary jazz trombonists. A sense of humor was also clearly evident in this musician who lifted the spirits of Americans through The Great Depression and both World Wars. Highly Recommended.
