Thank you for your text and pictures as you rumble toward the finish line with this great tuba. I think your willingness to go the "extra mile" as it were to make sure everything is done the way you want is really great. After all, you're the one who will be playing it, so why not? Keep up the great work!

So sorry to hear about your beloved cat. It is always sad when a family member comes to near the end. Your attention to detail is really something. Keep up the great work.

Wade-
Is the elipse in the rotors the same in old vrs new or is there some difference ( esp the 'depth')? Also, is the weight the same? I wonder if the brass composition is the same in old / new rotors.....

Elipse-- the two 'ports' of an actual rotor....

Again, this is all CC parts with the valves and 1st, 2nd and 3rd slides from the other 186. And my cat Ginger. She is very helpful, as you can tell.

And she is a very pretty kitty as well!

Love how the horn looks!

You have made real progress! It's going to look good and you will be fairly satisfied with all the details you took care of.

Would love to hear a recording of you playing it when it is finished.

In the late '50's, Reynolds had a spring-loaded first valve slide that you could pull for low combinations and push for 2nd space C. your rod looks like one of them, which were routinely taken off as they did not function that well for players who were not careful to keep the first valve slide or the mechanism properly cleaned and lubricated. Pic attached.

Looking great! How are things with the BBb to CC horn? Or is it a race to the finish on the CC horn and then on to the BBb/CC?
