SOLD: E-flat 3v compensating valveset--$185 shipped

For sale is a top-action 3-valve compensating valveset, from a vintage Boosey E-flat tuba with a .68X” bore. The valveset is in good condition—the valve action is smooth, the slides all pull, and while there are some dings in the tubing, none are serious. The valves also seal well (i.e., they have good “compression”)—there is a “pop” when each valve slide is pulled, and the tuba that the set came from played very well. I don’t know if the tuba just didn’t see much use, or the valves were replated (in copper), or what, but this valveset does not need any work to be functional.

This valveset would be perfect for a top-action “monster” E-flat tuba with good false tones but worn valves. The valveset could be pasted on with little modification, fixing both the leaking valves and the 1-3 and 1-2-3 combinations, for far less money than a valve rebuild or a 4-valve set.
