Tuba highlighting / prominent CDs

Post by Craigtbone »

You folks made so many good suggestions for Christmas CDs that I now want to ask about CDs that highlight tuba or have significant or prominent parts. Or heaven forbid tuba solos!

I played trombone for 45 years (non-professional) then 6 months ago switched to tuba. Now I want to build a library of tuba CDs.

Classical. Jazz. Traditional jazz (Dixieland). Just about any style.

Please, share with me your favorite tuba CDs!

I’m quite pleased with Apple Music. Always amazed by how many albums are there. 10$ per month. Worth it to me. Many of the ones you guys listed and lots more.

Lots of great recordings already mentioned.
I will add a couple more:

Jim Self - "The Big Stretch" -- tuba solos, tuba ensemble, brass ensemble + mallet percussion, etc. :tuba: Recorded circa 1999.

Canadian Brass - "Brass Busters" -- huge brass ensemble made up of the Canadian Brass, NY Phil, and Boston Symph brass players. :tuba: Recorded circa 1989.
