Unknown Tuba-Please Help Identify

Post by Gdavistuba »

Hey everyone!

Can anyone give me an educated guess as to what year/make this tuba might be? Found in storage for a high school that is over 100 years old.

Conn sousaphone, maybe a 20K?

If it's 20K sized (7 1/4" bell tenon, 0.734") and has standard-stroke valves, that would (by Conn's numbering logic) make it a 30K.

It may also be a 32k.
It'll either be a Conn 38k or a Conn 32k.
It'll all depend on what size the bell throat is.

Need the serial number on the middle valve to give you a mfg. date.

It's a Conn for certain. Could easily be a 32K. Look on the bell collar or tenon for a two-digit number plus a K. Many of those sousas were stamped with a model number.
