For sale: B&S 56AFT F tuba-$8000
YES. This is the tuba that Doc had. It’s a 4+2, with a 2nd valve kicker on the left hand as well. Tuba is in lacquer, with a Gold Brass bell.
I purchased it from him a couple of weeks ago. Play tested it extensively against my MRP, and have decided to keep my MRP. Couldn’t get comfortable with the 56 on an ergonomic level, which is why I wanted to try it in the first place. And in the end, I just liked my MRP a little bit more.
Anyhow, the horn is in VERY nice shape. I had a tiny little ding pushed out of the top bow with great success. I DO however believe that this tuba could benefit from some very slight adjustments in slide alignment, which I would do if I were planning on keeping the instrument. The instrument comes with a like-new B&S branded Gotz SuperSac, as well as the included lubricants and a practically unused PT-65 mouthpiece.
Tuba is located in Belleville, Illinois, right across the river from St. Louis, Mo. I’m happy to meet anyone within 3 hours of my location to make the exchange. While I don’t have a shipping carton, I’d be happy to build one, should you want to have the tuba shipped. It should however be noted that I refuse to skimp on shipping; be prepared to pay a few hundred dollars.
I AM open to trades, and or cash/trades. Your horn would need to be in very nice condition, and in complete working order. I’d be particularly interested in a 3/4 Rudy, a really nice 4/4 CC, Alex F, Rudy F, etc. Don’t be afraid to let me know what you’ve got. I’d consider a nice Bb tuba as well.
Acceptable forms of payment would be PayPal, or check-which would need to clear before the transaction could be completed.
