I have updated the asking price to $3,500 OBO.
Check this one out! Bumping also for a price reduction. This is a great tuba, perfect for a College Student wanting to move to a CC model!
This is a great all-around CC tuba, I enjoyed playing it all through college and on gigs and is recently overhauled!!
Though it is hard for me to do, I am putting my Meinl-Weston Bill Bell model up for sale! I’ve had this tuba since 1987, played it through college and beyond. You can see the pictures for the condition of the body and lacquer, it’s pretty standard for a tuba of this type without a full dip and restore. It comes with a gig-bag (needs one side of the zipper fixed).
This tuba was serviced in the last month (2020) by Dana Hofer (master brass restorer to the stars in Des Plaines, IL), here’s what he did:
-Disassemble and sonically clean: scrub and polish inside valve casings. Brass brush valves and slide lubes. Reassemble and algin valves using new bumpers.
-Cleaned up all of the structural soldering, including re-soldering the bell
-Rolled the dents out of the bell and slides
-New spit valve corks and tightened springs
-Cleaned up slides and rotors
A quick story about the tuba - at Ball State University (where I was a tuba performance major), somewhere around 1989-91(??) - Sam Pilafian was invited as a Guest clinician/lecturer. Upon seeing THIS tuba, he offered on the spot to buy it from me. He mentioned that at the time, it was his favorite tuba for schlepping around New York City transit. I believe this tuba is from the 70s, but couldn’t find a serial number to confirm.
Asking $3,500 OBO, we can negotiating who pays for shipping. (I’ll box it up safely on my own dime). Or pickup (safely, you know, Covid-19) in Chicago suburbs (Oak Park)
Here's my email too if you have any direct questions you don't want to put here: david (at) thespanglers.org

It looks like there's a serial number on the 2nd valve, though I don't know who can tell you what it means.

Hello! I found the number on the 2nd rotor, good eyes! The number is 253. I took a close-up shot and added it to the Folder with the photos : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... yzCvLTH87D" target="_blank
Is anyone familiar with the MW William Bell numbering system?
