Audio Recorder
Hello all, I've been considering updating my audio recording equipment for some time. I'm currently using an old Zoom H2 and considering moving up to a Zoom H4N, H5, or H6. Can anyone familiar with recording with these offers any insight?

The Zoom Q2n-4K is worth considering, too, if you don't need the XLR inputs and could use a camera. I recorded this last month with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS2qxL7YLuI" target="_blank

Re: Audio Recorder
H6 is great (own one going on 2 years I think). No complaints, I usually run a XLR Mics into it with great success. Works as an audio interface for computer recording too

Re: Audio Recorder
Any of the zoom recorders are good. I have the H4 and it works well. The number refers to the number of inputs/tracks for the multi track recorder. The built in mics work well enough or you could use the xlr’s with phantom power if you want to go overboard. I like that you can pop out the sd card and load into a computer quickly. You can probably find a used one for about half of retail, but be sure to get the power supply. They eat batteries!

I am LOVING my new H6.
Extremely useful and flexible tool.
Get the non-black package from B&H.
Only $299, comes w an extra mic, windscreen and a nice hard plastic case.
No brainer.

Re: Audio Recorder
What is the Zoom H2 not doing for you that you want? With the handheld field recorders that use condenser mics, the settings and positioning are very important with regards to the end product. Things such as the automatic gain control and overall level need to be set right, or often the end recording will be sub par. Also with brass instruments, positioning is quite important.
