Yamaha Sousaphones

Post by Hank74 »

I currently own a Yamaha Sousaphone and have always been curious with the sharp angle they use to connect the leadpipe with the gooseneck. With two bits, it's kind of challenging to insert the lyre to play while marching. The music is off to the side. Anyone know why? What are your experiences with the Yamaha?

Never liked their sousaphones. I only used one of the 45 degree bits and it worked okay, but I just never liked how flimsy they felt. You’re right that the angle is odd, I just memorized the music so that part was never a problem, but the Conns are set up much better for me.
