SOLD Old Mirafone Eb. Plays and sounds terrific.

Post by gregsundt »

I'm selling this for a friend. He's ideally hoping to "swap" this for a decent BBb in comparable condition.

This is a very old Mirafone (with an F) Eb. The clockspring valves are typically noisy, but work fine. There is very little lacquer, a few repairs, and a few dents; nothing disabling. The most noticeable repair is a splice in the leadpipe just beyond the receiver (see photos). Slides work well, except for a stuck main tuning slide that I'll be working on.

I'm guessing this is typical: This tuba really wants to be played with a right-sized mouthpiece. My Bach 18 sounds OK, but when I plug in a smaller, generic Eb mouthpiece I had lying around, this tuba really sings!

$700, buyer pays shipping, or an even swap for the right BBb.
