And plays in tune better than my 1980s 3/4 Mirafone 184.
The Offering:
This is a 5/4 size 'Piggy Style' tuba with five rotary valves. The 5th valve (thumb) plays like a flattened 1st valve giving a fully chromatic and in tune scale all the way down to the last Bb on a piano; and beyond, I've achieved a practiced F below the keyboard.

About the Horn:
This is a large 5/4 full sized BBb tuba factory built clone (China built Jin-Bao) modeled after a 5 valve hand built Hirsbrunner (Switzerland). The tuning slides are nickel inner and outer tubes with a gold brass lead pipe. This large 5/4 tuba has a very large sound. Although it is very big around it is a very well balanced and ergonomic tuba. It also has a huge low range. It seems from my seat that I can balance with both my community orchestra and community band all by myself quite easily.

I LOVE this horn, but after about five years of LOVING playing it I'm getting older and have transitioned back to my 3/4 size Mirafone 184 a few years ago. My Luzern has been sitting for three or four years in my front room gathering floor space.
This short Piggy Style fits in the back seat of my mid/large size sedan car but does not fit the trunk. The foam based case is very easy to wheel and also lift and carry when needed; a HUGE difference between it and my Mirafone case.
Condition:
There is one crease in the bell where I accidentally set my chair in the wrong place during a rehearsal. The horn was stable on its bell on carpet at the time. And there is a blemish in the finish where I didn't wipe up a drip, damaging the finish. Both issues can be seen in photos I'll post after I take them. Also, since I haven't played the horn for a few years most of the slides have not been moved and need professional attention. The tuning slide works well. The case has been scratched a bit by my cat. Photos will be provided.

A mouthpiece adapter. I don't use an adapter but the horn came with one but it has been mislaid. A new adapter can be had from Wessex.com
FYI: My MP works much better than the 'Chief' that came with the horn. After trying the 'Chief' in this and other horns I got rid of it because it played sub par. A truly bad MP. I use a Giddings stainless steel MP with great effect.
