Ok, so after looking at this part yesterday after many years, can anyone tell me why this isn't asked on auditions? Man, it's a bear. Oh yeah, it's by Tschaikovsky, but most of you will already know that. If you have never played the piece before, get a recording. It has to be one of the harder things to put together I have seen in a long time.

I have played it, I have a date on the music of November 1978. I was a freshman in college, but I'll be damned if I know where I did it. I vivdly remember working on it in lessons with Kevin Ladd and being perplexed at how to play it at tempo, count it right, and find a place to breath. It must have been a good group because it is a hard piece. I agree with your take on Dvoraks Tone Poems, they are wonderful pieces. I tried to program as many as I could when I was on the radio. Carnival Overture is another piece that should be asked. That has a dandy and tricky part.
