Does anyone know where i could get information on how much symphonies pay? I am doing a research paper on life in music after college, and need a broad range of symphonies. I have, CSO sallery, Pitt. sallery, and NY phil. Any smaller, lower paying symphonies would be great. thanks

Try www.icsom.org

This is the website of the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians. I know that, at one point, they would publish general salary information for all their member entities in their newsletter, Senza Sordino.

Contact the American Federation of Musicians and the Regional Orchestra Players' Association
Salaries are always listed for openings, even if they're for other instruments, in things like the International Musician.
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Any listing in the International Musician will include the wages that they are paying for that orchestra. Since these are union gigs, you are safe in extending them to tuba. They certainly will give you some idea of what to expect.

The ICSOM wage scale chart, which includes all the major symphony orchestra jobs, is available on the AFM website. If you're not a member, find a friend who is a member to access the info for you. Benefit information is included as well. And while it's discouraged on the board, since you're writing a paper on the subject, I'd say that you'd do yourself a big favor to spell salary correctly.
