I've been looking online in all the usual places, but am having no success. So, I ask the good folks of Tubenet:
I would like to obtain a copy of the old Dutoit/Montreal Symphony recording of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique. I'm not sure of the exact year...I only know that it was during the time that Ellis Wean was in the orchestra and I believe Lance Nagels was playing 2nd tuba. Apparently it is out of print, or at least impossible to find via the regular channels (believe me...I ardently support buying CD's that are commercially available, and I have the 600-CD collection to prove it).
So, if anyone has a copy or knows where to point me to get one, it would be much appreciated. I'd be willing to pay for a copy to be made or perhaps trade some rare recordings/sheet music/whatever.
E-mail me at: scotuba@hotmail.com.
Thanks very much!

actually, the 1985 recording was re-released in 2001, it looks like that's the one that UCLA has. amazon has it as an import here

Montreal Symph Fan.
Don't have the recording, but remember the PERFORMANCE. I heard them play it "on tour" in the "Union Theater" at the U. of WIS. in Madison. BEST Symfonie Fantastique I EVER heard, anywhere. Ellis didn't do the tour, but the orchesra ROCKED. I left the concert thinking "This may well be the world's best orchestra, NOW".
