Tubachristmas Atlanta 2005

Post by fireatwil »

Anyone have info on TC in Atlanta this year?
How many tubas?
Why Underground instead of CNN Center?
How did it go?

I missed it and just wanted the scoop.

Hey,
it was fun
279 was the last count that we did.
It was at the underground because the CNN Center changed management and they decided that they didn't want it there anymore and the people at Underground were cool enough to help us out. Don Strand did a great job organizing, rehersing and conducting the performance. Don makes sure that everyone plays as beautiful as possible (which happened except for one sousa player was blatting through most of the pieces). There were some cool instruments there. Daryl Fletcher has a contrabass trumpet (in F) there was a 1914 Eb helicon, a circular baritone (a 1st for me) a couple of double bell euphs and Don Strand brought his Cimbasso. hi to all of the tubenetters that I met while I was there.
Cool,
Bill Pritchard
