Yamaha Silent Brass for a 4/4 Hirs

Post by andrew c oppenheim »

I know that this topic has been hashed to death, but do any of you out there have any experience with the silent brass with regards to a 4/4 HP or HP-21?

My Silent Brass fit well and worked ok in my old 2P, but I'm honestly not a big fan of that mute in any tuba. The trombone mute and the euph mute are really quite nice, but the tuba model is sub-par compared to what you can buy for the same or less (Trumcor/Wick)....

I've got one that I'll gladly sell....may post it sometime actually.....

I don't think that the HP component of the question is really relevant.

The question really boils down to an issue of whether one likes the Silent Brass, or not.

I have used it with an HB-2, and with other horns, as well. It seems to work pretty similarly, on all of the horns that I tried.
