I am wondering if your lightening might have something to do with it as well?

Yeah, it slows down my PC too. Of course I'm still running Win98 on a 350 Mhz Pentium-II. :?

WHOLE lotta difference between an animated GIF and a Macromedia Flash presentation. My computer doesn't have any trouble with either; but even my old 486 running Win 3.1 didn't have any trouble with animated GIFs. Macromedia FLASH is a lot more CPU intensive.

Isn't there some way to disable these things without being incessantly prompted to load the plugin??

I seem to have no problem with any of these on my Athlon 64 with 2GB of RAM and cable modem. It must just be those Intel processors.

My serpent horn is made in China! It should be the very best!
Especially if built in a year of the serpent.

bloke "whose processor and ram are modest, but normally quite adequate"
That ad is not a Flash animation. Their previous ad many many months ago was, but a couple of people complained and they swapped it out for the present animated GIF.

If your computer can't handle animated GIFs then it is time for you to upgrade to an abacus.
