Just wondering where the closest owner of a dent eraser is to Nashville. During a practice session tonight I sat my horn on its bell, and unknowingly the floor was uneven and my horn fell over!!! Over all the damage could have been worse.
There are two flat spots on the bottom bow (the largest is about 4 inches in length and 2 inches wide, the other about 2 inches in length and 1 inch wide), the fifth valve tubing that comes around the front (where your valve hand rests) has a large indention, and I believe the 1st valve slide is bent slightly.
Other than that, no valves are bent, and all braces are still completely solid. I think that says a lot about Gronitz construction. I can not imagine what would have been damaged on my old Kalison DS if this would have happend.
Anyhow, I am taking it to a local shop tomorrow, but my buddy isn't sure if they have a dent eraser (he works there), and I'm pretty sure thats the only way the dents in the bottom bow can be taken out (with the exception of un-soldering the bottom bow). The dents are not that deep though, so I'm hoping this will be as painless as possible. The worst is the dent in the fifth valve tubing.
I can assure you the sound of a tuba crashing to the floor is the most painful
sound in world.
