Re: STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum
Surely you just post with the price drop which also acts as a BUMP. Anyone serious about buying will surely read the whole thread. If the original post and price is there, then they can also see the amount of price drop.
I do not see the lack of edit button as that inconvenient. Just review the Preview well before posting!

Re: STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum
Hey, we're all entitled to individual opinions and mine differs with you--its inconvenient to me. I am one person who will not page through a for sale post. I expect all of the correct, pertinent, and up-to-date information to be on the first post of the thread.Neptune wrote:Surely you just post with the price drop which also acts as a BUMP. You are entitled to your position. You are also entitled to miss out on some good deals due to your unwillingness to spend the extra 5-10 seconds. To each his/her own....geomiklas wrote:Hey, we're all entitled to individual opinions and mine differs with you--its inconvenient to me. I am one person who will not page through a for sale post. Are you kidding!? Just think of how the person that was was supposed to get "them leaves" felt when they opened the box and found out there was only a euphonium in there!the elephant wrote:¡™£¢∞§¶•ª!@#$%^&!!!!!!!!!!!!SplatterTone wrote:Them leaves was special. Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Re: STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum
I vote to support Sean's change. I'm a firm believer in more information rather than less.
If an OP in the For Sale forum is originally posted with mistakes, then subsequently corrected with reply posts, as I potential buyer I am in better shape being able to read all the original and subsequent information.
I'd like to know, before considering whether to shell out $$$, whether the seller is a dumb-a$$ who can't tell a Miraphone from an M&M without correction from the TNFJ. I'm also in a stronger position as a buyer if I have transparent access to all prices the item was offered for.

Re: STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum
Sure it can. Correct the ad before hitting the submit button.bloke wrote:Congratulations, Sean!
Now, ads such as this one
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=30046
with incorrect makers stated and accompanying incorrect descriptions
can no longer be corrected.
If you need a revision then post a followup to your own thread.
It is much more correctable than a newspaper or trade magazine ad.
As always I offer a full refund for all registration costs.

I guess you are if you can't think of the revolutionionary idea of posting a new thread with the new price...yalequan wrote:I just dropped the price on my 3050 and my title still has it listed at the old price. I know that when I see a price in the title I assume that it's the asking price...and I'm worried that this will drive away prospective buyers.
Are we just SOL?

It actually played out like a knee-jerk reaction to one person, leaving the rest of us to suffer.the elephant wrote:And then we have ten ads for the same horn, over and over. This is a poorly thought out plan.windshieldbug wrote:I guess you are if you can't think of the revolutionionary idea of posting a new thread with the new price...yalequan wrote:I just dropped the price on my 3050 and my title still has it listed at the old price. Re: STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum
The replies to this thread remind me of the thread Sean started when the "new TubeNet" went online. We got used to that, and we'll get used to this too. Maybe, this will lead to more well crafted for sale ads.
Maybe it will lead to less post in those ads that are not nessesary because they can't be edited (wait a min.. Sorry. Even I know that'll never happen
).

Re: STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum
Ha, but how many Joe Tubaplayers come on here just to sell something? Not likely they'll read this thread in the Feedback forum and then it's "OH MAN THIS SITE IS CUH-RAZUH!"!Tubaryan12 wrote:Maybe, this will lead to more well crafted for sale ads.
Perhaps this new feature could be made adhesive-like in the For Sale forum?

And to think that just the other day, someone told me you weren't an extremely generous person. I'm totally overwhelmed. Well, maybe I'm just whelmed. Again, I am not too sure.WoodSheddin wrote: As always I offer a full refund for all registration costs.
OK. To clarify: Thank you, Sean.

Re: STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum
PLEASE Change it back Sean!
This new policy isn't working. It's a reaction to one person's inability to work inside the system. Quoting the ORIGINAL AD in a message preserved it if it was such a big deal. Now we have even more clutter than before. For gods sake please undo this thing, and no it's not just another issue of "getting used to it". It plain doesn't work.
I don't want to dig through pages of posts to see if the something has been updated that's not in the original, I already spend too much time on here as it is.
The first bloke needs to get used to it. Why is the rest of the community suffering?
EDIT: Now I can't mark items that were on hold before as for sale again!

So now we have to start using a less open way of scamming people but on the plus side, no more

Brilliant. Just make text blocks into jpeg's and then upload at will. Brilliant.

Re: STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum
My plan was actually to assemble a team of the best minds and bodies TubeNet has to offer and made a super-secret infiltration of the top-secret and highly-guarded TubeNet server room. From there, we would install a very discrete server worm (It attacks five key server components, so I call it the "Jackson 5") which will remove the lock on editting posts in the For Sale section!
Or we could do Tubaing's idea...

The edit button would be so much simpler.
