Wow, I know everybody in the back row! I was one of Roger's instructors back when he was in high school. I believe he has a different tuba now, a silver piston valved horn, can't remember the make and model.

Yep, Roger has Norm's old Thor. Great axe! We were playing in Steve Rochford's group together at IVC. I went through a couple horns - the 190, a WIllson 3050 rotary, then a Gronitz PCM (that Roger had sold to the school to buy his Thor). Sadly, life got in the way, and I had to bow out of the group back a couple years ago. I don't believe Roger's played with them in a while either.

Dublin UMC Xmas Eve 2012 small.JPG
Christmas Eve ensemble, Dublin, MD United Methodist Church.... earlier this fall they had put out a call for some brass players to augment some of their own musicians. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot too!

This was a small enough group that we included everyone in the picture. Front row, from left:

(from the congregation)

Julie Tittel, violin

Tom Tittel, trombone

(from Bel Air Community Band)

Frank Wilsey, Sonora BBb

Ben Whitford- Dillon BBb

Back row, BACB Trumpeters, from left:

Rob Storey

Bob Hudson

Bill Stephens (who also did much of the arranging)

Not pictured- Tyler Horton, Organist/Music Director. We'll get him next time :)

Merry Christmas, all!

That front action Eb looks interesting. Is it a Boosey cavalry tuba?

Any chance you could get me a good photo documentation of that tuba?
