Bruckner: 5, 8, and 9 are my favorites. If you like Bruckner check out Richard Wetz SYmphony No.3 and Kleist Overture.
Mahler: 2,3, and 6. 1 is ok, but nothing compared to Hans Rott's Symphony in E. Check it out, the finale will blow you away. And it doesn't have a tuba part
Shostakovich: 2,4,7,8,11,13,15
Rachmaninov: Symphony No.1 is my favorite. Very much underplayed. Check out The Bells, and Aleko also.
Prokofiev: Absolutely anything. Especially Ivan the Terrible. I also really like The Meeting of the Volga and the Don.
Walton: Anything. Some of the most difficult parts in the rep, and quite possibly the most underrated composer in history.
Strauss: Anything at all. Check out Franz Schmidt's Symphony No.2 if you get into Strauss. WOW.
Respighi: Check out the Cincinnati SYmphony recording of Church Windows, and the Philharmoni Recording of Belkis The Queen of Sheba. DAMN.
If you're into obscure stuff...like me...Camargo Guarnieri Symphony no. 4 and 5. Great stuff. Brazilian Composer. Wicked tuba parts. Speaking of Latin musi with wicked tuba parts...anything by Revueltas. Just great music in there.
