I hear ya, James. It's a lot of money and a big decision for sure. But you'll know what's right for you.

Back to the OP though...Bill Mickelsen played (plays?) a Miraphone 188 in the Florida Orchestra.

Years ago I was so fortunate to sit next to Gene at a Harvey Phillips TubaSantas gig in Chicago and we were talking about his 186. I remember him saying that the comment from his fellow artists were:
"Don't ever sell that tuba!"
My instructor also mentioned that Gene Pokorny won the CSO job with the 186. I believe he recorded the Hindemith Sonata (Hindemith Summit Brass CD) on the 186.
