They are nice tubas but they are not BATs by any stretch. Here's a 3301 next to my honest 4/4 York Master.

Affirmative! The 701 also has more nickel silver fittings. It is in effect the up-market version of the 601.


A nearly-BAT size tuba which often comes up for sale used you could consider would be the B&S PT-6? It depends what you call "inexpensive/budget"? Compared to a Baer or Nirschl it's inexpensive! :wink:

I have a Conn 25J BBb up for sale and the price is pretty good. It's not a pretty horn, but it plays well and has a huge sound (and can be played softly when needed).
