Hi, you all
The reason M&M Instruments named The EEb Tuba,The Fletcher is because He was one of the finest Gentleman and Tuba player I had the privilege of working with
We of the older generation remember him but the new younger players I find do not
So to keep is name alive we have made the Fletcher model
Unless The Tuba is marked, Fletcher , it is not the new modified Fletcher EEb
We will have both models at several conferences this year where you can compare the 2 side by side
The Standard 700 is a good value but to play a Fletcher is special as Mr Fletcher was
Thank you
Michael

Michael-
The Eb compensating Chinese tuba is the SAME instrument--whether called 'The Fletcher,' M&M, Tuba Exchange, Schiller, JinBao, Xuqiu, Songlin, Newstar, etc. This model of tuba is stenciled by different Chinese tuba makers, JinBao being the largest.
The only DIFFERENT compensating Eb tuba made In China is the Wisemann (Deyong), which Wessex is carrying.
BTW, please tell us of your playing experiences with John Fletcher, as you mention above.....

PS. I stand corrected-the Wisemann Eb tuba is not compensating.

I would be interested in seeing, hearing or reading what these differences/improvements that separate a Fletcher from a 700 please.

Actually it is non-compensated, although I understand Wisemann are planning a future compensated Eb model (not a clone!)jonesmj wrote: The only DIFFERENT compensating Eb tuba made n China is the Wisemann (Deyong), which Wessex is carrying.

Another reason dealers need to check each horn prior to shipping! Bloke's client was LUCKY to find a Tech willing and able to rectify his issue...Are you able to say if the "Carolina seller" reimbursed your client for your work?bloke wrote:The Chinese knock-offs of the B&H comp Eb sound good and play in-tune well enough. I had to spend a bunch of time making the valves work right on one that a customer (retired "President's Own" bandsman) bought from somewhere in the Carolinas. I'm glad someone else sold it, and I was only being asked to try to fix it, rather than being told that I must fix it...
...fwiw, It's fixed.
There is a US manufacturer - recently bought by a boutique flute maker - from whom I stopped buying new instruments. Every single instrument was some sort of repair job, and I already had PLENTY of repair work.

Hi Jonathan-
I stand corrected-the Wisemann Eb is not a compensator.
